What You'll Be Doing

Reporting to the Senior Director, Policy Management, the Group Product Manager, Personal Lending will support the development and completion of CIBC strategic policy reviews and development, designed to broaden and dramatically improve secured lending product sales and CIBC product cross-sell balanced with regulatory and credit risk considerations. There will be an emphasis on representing the needs of Personal Lending in the development and implementation of policies in line with mortgage, multi-product sales, origination, retention, and default management programs.

Success requires:

  • Strong Communication skills to deliver internal messaging while maintaining accuracy and alignment as it relates to policy and procedural information.
  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines and business change requirements in an increasingly competitive time-sensitive and market-driven environment.
  • Ability to represent the needs of Personal Lending product groups in complex large-scale projects and activities, influencing and achieving outcomes as required.
  • Operating in a highly complex and constantly evolving environment among a broad group of stakeholders where success is dependent upon developing and maintaining effective partnerships.
  • Remaining well-informed on and anticipating new portfolio and market opportunities, approaches concepts, and trends applicable to the lending industry.

How You Will Succeed

  • Personal Lending Policy Reviews and Development - Act as subject matter expert in the development and execution of Personal Lending policy reviews and development, Business cases, work plans, objectives, requirements, and processes. Analyze and assess complex portfolio metrics, customer profiles, credit criteria, problems/solutions; to make decisions on behalf of Personal Lending management as required. Develop related policies, procedures, controls, and associated process metrics and analytics, develop gap analysis and sustainability plans for existing policies, procedures, controls, and associated process metrics and analytics, leverage strong planning, analytical and communication skills to deliver high quality deliverables within tight timelines.
  • Relationship Building - Maintain strong relationships with segment and channel partners as well as other Lines of Business through a common set of strategies that support the banks strategic business objectives and our customers' needs. Work closely alongside other managers, as well as the other Senior Managers/Directors within the organizations, and the broader bank to ensure delivery of high-quality lending policies within expected timelines, budgets and outcomes.
  • Personal Lending Product Initiatives - Review and assess options and proposals regarding developments/enhancements for policies, products, or services and make recommendations to the Director/Senior Director regarding their impact, effectiveness, and feasibility. Provide strategic and tactical support to various development/work groups, business management, and other enterprise teams to ensure policy designs, approaches, and solutions meet expectations to support the Real-estate Secured Lending (RESL) regulatory compliance, products, portfolio, and outcomes. Support other Personal Lending product initiatives as capacity permits, lead and participate in policy development, represent the interests of areas (of which the incumbent is a member), and work closely with other groups within CIBC to develop and review policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and risk considerations in balance with client centricity in support of objectives.
  • Communication Skills - Communicate efficiently to convey or present complex conceptual information on complex issues involving extensive interpretation and opinion, well-developed writing skills to prepare material where interpretation, analysis, assessment and/or creativity require the knowledgeable use of terminology and precise articulation of ideas or opinions is necessary to effectively communicate.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience in Personal Lending. You have (5-7 years) practical knowledge of Personal Lending, including RESL credit and operational and credit risk management methodologies policies practices, and principles of product management sufficient to interpret and analyze complex concepts and apply these to innovative ways in many subjects or functional areas, and be recognized as a subject matter expert.
