JOB PURPOSE

The Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation is New Brunswick's provincial centre for neurological rehabilitation. The Registered Nurse Class A will work as part of the adult physiatry outpatient clinic, as well as the interdisciplinary team, to provide rehabilitation services to patients with complex neurological disorders.

The RNCA position involves coordination and clinical care for adult outpatients, and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, provides quality patient care within the scope of professional nursing practice to patients and their families while focusing on Patient and Family Centered Care.

Outpatient appointments: Participation in triage of referrals, collection of vital signs and weight, venipuncture, history-taking, education for neurogenic bladder and bowel, wound assessment, medication reconciliation, assistance during procedures.

Follow-up care: Participation in interdisciplinary team rounds and phone follow-up.

Clinic planning and coordination: Work closely with the Clinic Coordinator to organize various clinics. Complete pre-clinic screening.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Active registration with NANB
• Current BLS certification
• Demonstrated teaching, communication, interpersonal and team building skills.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skill required to provide care to patients with the following diagnosis:
  • Traumatic and acquired brain injury.
  • Spinal cord injury.
  • Progressive neurological disabilities such as MS and ALS
  • Complex CVA
• Must be flexible and adapt easily in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
• Ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Good work record.
