Track Maintainer

Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern have merged to form CPKC, a North American railway with a 20,000-mile network. The company is seeking a team member to perform physical labor on the track and surrounding materials.
Job Description:
This role involves moderate to heavy physical labor, including replacing and repairing track components, responding to emergencies, and adjusting the alignment and surface of the track. The work is outdoors and requires working in various weather conditions. Shifts may start at any time, day or night, and the employee may be required to stay away from home with a meal allowance provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform moderate to heavy physical labor on assigned areas of track, including pulling track spikes, applying rail anchors, shoveling crushed rock, and bending and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Work in a team environment, with an emphasis on safety and a focus on remaining alert at all times.
- Work in various weather conditions, including rain, direct sunlight, and snow.
- Work shifts, with start times set on a weekly basis and subject to change daily.
- Be away from home, with a meal allowance provided.
- Work may be seasonal, with the possibility of being laid off at the end of the work season.
Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Possess a High School diploma or GED.
- Have a valid driver's license (a valid Class 3 license is considered an asset).
- Have a safety-oriented work ethic, with experience in the labor industry.
- Be able to follow instructions and rules and regulations.
- Be able to work as a valuable member of a team.
- Have good written and verbal communication/comprehension skills.
