Looking for the ideal aviation career? Join our highly skilled team as an Avionics Technician and contribute to the safe and efficient daily maintenance on our fleet of aircraft- Boeing 787, 737 NG, 737 MAX and De Havilland Dash Q400). As an Avionics Technician, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a dynamic team using your troubleshooting and problem-solving skills while making safety a top priority. As part of our team, you'll embody teamwork and integrity while upholding WestJet's core values.
Are you ready for your next adventure? Ensure you meet the following requirements:
- Valid Transport Canada (E) Licence required
- Minimum 5-years' experience and/or endorsed on Boeing 737 and/or 787 and/or Q400, or equivalent type of aircraft preferred
- Proven technical aptitude and strong experience with electrical, navigation and flight controls required
- Legally entitled to work in Canada (must hold a Canadian Passport or Permanent Residency and/or open work permit with PR card in process)
- Radio Licence required within 6 months of employment
- The physical ability to lift 62lbs and sit, kneel and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions including temperature extremes, confined spaces, and working at heights
- Ability to maintain a positive fit test to wear all safety and protective equipment including (but not limited to) respirator apparatus
- Flexibility to work shift work (evenings, overnights, weekend and holiday shifts) including overtime when necessary
- Must be able to travel for situations where base coverage and/or rescue trips are required
- Strong computer knowledge and skills using various Maintenance programs and Microsoft Office Applications
Successful candidates will be required to meet the following conditions of employment:
- Technical Aviation diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution required
- Obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) issued by Transport Canada
- Obtain and maintain Airside Vehicle Operators Permits (AVOP). Must have a valid unrestrcted Driver's Licence and a clean driver's abstract
- Pre-employment assessment to measure physical ability and fit for position including audiometric testing
- Clear police background and criminal record check
- Offers of employment are conditional on passing a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening test including Alcohol, Psychoactive Substances, Illicit Drugs and Cannabis
