Avionics Technician Role

We are seeking a skilled Avionics Technician to join our team at WestJet. As an Avionics Technician, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient daily maintenance of our fleet of aircraft.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of avionics systems on Boeing 787, 737 NG, 737 MAX, and De Havilland Dash 8-400 (Q400) aircraft
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to ensure aircraft airworthiness
  • Collaborate with other technicians and maintenance teams to achieve maintenance goals
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge and skills to stay up-to-date with industry developments

Requirements

  • Valid Transport Canada (E) Licence required
  • Minimum 5-years' experience and/or endorsed on Boeing 737 and/or 787 and/or Q400, or equivalent type of aircraft preferred
  • Proven technical aptitude and strong experience with electrical, navigation, and flight controls required
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada (must hold a Canadian Passport or Permanent Residency and/or open work permit with PR card in process)
  • Radio Licence required within 6 months of employment
  • The physical ability to lift 62lbs and sit, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions, including temperature extremes, confined spaces, and working at heights
  • Ability to maintain a positive fit test to wear all safety and protective equipment, including respirator apparatus
  • Flexibility to work shift work, including evenings, overnights, weekend, and holiday shifts, including overtime when necessary
  • Must be able to travel for situations where base coverage and/or rescue trips are required
  • Strong computer knowledge and skills using various Maintenance programs and Microsoft Office Applications

Conditions of Employment

  • Technical Aviation diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution required
  • Obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) issued by Transport Canada
  • Obtain and maintain Airside Vehicle Operators Permits (AVOP). Must have a valid unrestrcted Driver's Licence and a clean driver's abstract
  • Pre-employment assessment to measure physical ability and fit for position, including audiometric testing
  • Clear police background and criminal record check
  • Offers of employment are conditional on passing a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening test, including Alcohol, Psychoactive Substances, Illicit Drugs, and Cannabis

Preference will be given to candidates with qualifications that exceed the minimum requirements.
