About the Role

Aecon is seeking a highly experienced Earthworks Superintendent to lead our Deerfoot Trail Improvements project in Calgary, Alberta. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient execution of earthworks and grading operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Safety-First Culture: Promote and execute a safety-first culture for all employees, sub-contractors, and consultants in compliance with the project's Environmental Health and Safety Program and provincial occupational health and safety legislation.
  • Earthworks and Grading Expertise: Provide guidance to team members on earthworks and grading operations, including hazard assessments, FLRAs, and mentorship.
  • Project Coordination: Track and report project progress, quality control, and resource requirements.
  • Team Leadership: Direct Foremen on productivity issues and monitor work performance, working with the Foreman and crews to overcome challenges.
  • Quality and Efficiency: Drive quality, efficiency, and productivity of work crews, ensuring that work completed meets quality standards.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory position in the construction industry with experience in heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of OH&S Alberta, exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office.
