Winter Sports School Instructor

You will:

  • Ensure the safety of students and guests and provide an exceptional mountain experience through professional instruction in skiing or snowboarding.
  • Contribute to a professional, supportive environment for other Instructors and KHMR staff.
  • Maintain records of teaching with the Winter Sports School Supervisor, Lead instructor and Desk Agents.
  • Engage in daily team meetings, training and other communications necessary to provide a high-quality instructional experience for guests of the resort.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

CSIA/CASI Level I Ski & Snowboard Instructors

  • Provide group and private instruction and support to the Learning & Adventure Centre and Kids programs (a great opportunity for young instructors seeking a start in the mountains).

CSIA/CASI Level II Ski & Snowboard Instructors

  • Provide group and private lessons for all ages in beginner to advanced terrain.
  • Work in our multi-week Adult and Kids programs where appropriate.

CSIA/CASI Level III Ski and Snowboard Instructors

  • Provide group and private lessons for all ages in beginner to expert terrain.
  • Work in our multi-week Adult and Kids programs where appropriate.
  • Provide private lessons for Adults and Kids programs in expert terrain.
  • Deliver clinics for the Big Mountain Centre.
  • Conduct morning session as needed.

CSIA/CASI Level IV Ski and Snowboard Instructors

  • Mentor and lead our enthusiastic staff with the aim of developing excellence within the school.
  • Expand instructor training program for the advancement of our growing staff.
  • Deliver multi day, multi-discipline clinics, including freeride, race/performance, and freestyle programs.
  • Provide private and group lessons for Adult Clinics and the Big Mountain Centre.

You:

  • Are an advocate for health and safety who prioritizes the safety of clients, guests and co-workers.
  • Have relevant CSIA or CASI Level Instructor certification (foreign equivalencies will be considered on a case-by-case basis).
  • Have previous professional work experience in a snow or recreation instructor role as appropriate for given certification level.
  • Have an outgoing personality with excellent communication skills.
  • Are passionate about instructing and creating a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Have passion and enthusiasm for mountain culture, skiing /snowboarding, and the resort environment.
  • Have strong teamwork & cooperation experience.
  • Must have flexibility in hours and lesson type will be required.
  • Are able to withstand extended periods of exposure to extreme weather conditions on resort (cold, wind, snow, altitude).
  • Have sufficient strength, physical conditioning, and stamina to be able to conduct on-mountain ski or snowboarding lessons for extended periods of time.
  • Possess first aid, guiding and/or avalanche certifications.
  • Are able to provide a criminal background check.
  • Can provide one, preferably two, professional references.
