Job Title: Health Care Social Worker

About the Opportunity

The Health Care Social Worker is a key member of our interdisciplinary health care team, providing collaborative, holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum. As a Social Worker, you will be responsible for building relationships with patients and their families, assessing their needs, and developing plans to address their psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

About You

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university
  • Registration: Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
  • Experience: Two (2) years post BSW related clinical experience required
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
    • Previous experience working in adult community mental health preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to use a client-/family-centered approach
    • Familiarity with various evidence-based treatment approaches for use with people with severe and persistent mental illness
    • Demonstrated experience with group facilitation
    • Ability to complete biopsychosocial assessments
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Awareness of local community resources and agencies
    • Ability to demonstrate effective time management and disciplined self-organization
    • Demonstrated comfort and skills working collaboratively with community partners
    • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

What We Offer

  • Compensation: $42.89 Hourly
  • Benefits: Health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan
  • Hours: Short assignment full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly, with shifts including weekdays, weekends, and holidays
