Occupational Therapist Health Disciplines Resource Team: Provide comprehensive patient care and support in a dynamic rehabilitation environment, collaborating with interprofessional teams to promote health and wellbeing.

Unity Health Toronto is a leading healthcare provider, comprised of Providence Healthcare, St. Joseph's Health Centre and St. Michael's Hospital. As an Occupational Therapist on our Health Disciplines Resource Team, you will play a vital role in supporting patients and families in our urban communities.

The primary role of an Occupational Therapist is to assess and treat patients whose occupational performance is impaired by illness or injury, social disadvantage, trauma, or the aging process. This involves promoting, maintaining, or restoring health and wellbeing through engagement in meaningful occupations in the areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure.

  • Collaborate with interprofessional teams to provide comprehensive patient care
  • Contribute to the academic mandate of the organization as an educator, resource or support for staff and members of the academic and professional community
  • Identify and address educational needs for patients and their families
  • Commit to ongoing professional development to provide optimal patient care
  • Participate in ongoing quality improvement and/or research in the organization
  • Provide patient care in accordance with professional and organizational standards
  • Provide anti-oppressive and accessible care for all patients

Key qualifications include:

  • Current licensure by the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy or substantial equivalent
  • Current BLS certification or willingness to complete within probationary period
  • Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) certification or willingness to certify prior to the end of the probationary period
  • Experience in neuro and stroke rehabilitation preferred
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
  • Proven flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills as relates to patient care
  • Demonstrated advocacy, commitment to and involvement with profession preferred
