Job Summary:

  • Space utilization planning and management
  • Clinical and Non-clinical renovations & redevelopment planning
  • Managing Ministry of Health project approval process
  • Transitions planning (Planning and executing office and department moves)
  • External consulting and project management services
  • Construction/Renovations services procurement

Duties and Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of the Project II Manager include:

  • Planning and developing all aspects of the assigned projects;
  • Performing project documentation and reporting to ensure quality standards are met;
  • Developing and managing communication(s) and other initiatives that will advance project goals and objectives, ensuring appropriate mechanisms are in place to effectively monitor and evaluate project activities, etc.;
  • Creating an action plan for the projects to facilitate project implementation, utilizing best practices guidelines and appropriate tools;
  • Playing a lead role in coordinating activities and managing deliverables to ensure project meets established goals while ensuring compliance with corporate goals and practices;
  • Managing projects¿ costs, schedule and stakeholder's activities in order to ensure that the project is on track
  • Managing project dependencies and the projects critical path;
  • Determining, evaluating and providing mitigating plans for risk issues while managing performance against expectation of the project team;
  • Providing ongoing tracking and monitoring of project activities, project¿ identifying/resolving issues and concerns that may hamper project activities, utilizing information to develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, predictions, etc.;
  • Conducting project post mortems and creating recommendations reports in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements of project.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of project management experience in a health care environment required; with lean black belt preferred;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate information/ideas, in a manner that is easily understood by others required;
  • Excellent computer skills e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, required;
  • Excellent presentation and negotiation skills with the ability to influence others required;
  • Very good understanding of provincial health care, clinical processes with ability to use clinical data for improvement required;
  • Very good problem recognition and problem-solving skills with the ability to deal with situations where information is difficult to obtain, complex or ambiguous required;
  • Understands operational excellence, quality improvement, change management and process redesign concepts including lean/six sigma required;
  • Ability to solve moderately complex problems independently required;
  • Ability to multi task while producing high quality work required;
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively as a team player required;
  • Ability to produce work in accordance with Hospital policy and practice required;
  • Ability to handle multiple personalities/conflict and work well with others required;
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively as a team player with staff/stakeholders to undertake report generation, analysis and project implementation required;
  • Demonstrated team player with the ability to be flexible and adaptable to change required;
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the Hospitals Mission and values required.
  • Ability to identify weaknesses and seek guidance.
