About the role

We're looking for a driven and enthusiastic SAS Lead Developer (Financial Systems) to join our growing team

About the role

The SAS Lead Developer for our Financial Systems, who will enhance, support and maintain our SAS IFRS17 solution. You will be part of a growing Financial Systems team undergoing a significant transformation to support Intact's finance systems landscape and technology modernization.

Work location: Toronto (700 University Ave) or Montreal (2020 Robert-Bourassa)

What you'll do here:

  • Participate in the projects of SAS IFRS17 solution/changes and their operationalization.
  • Support and maintain of the SAS IFRS17 Solution.
  • Be involved in the solution maintenance lifecycle, collaborating with key stakeholders in various domains (Business, SAS, Data Analytics, Infrastructure Services, Security, Auditors, Communications, Storage, Cloud, etc.).
  • Scope, design, estimate and code new functionality or bug fixes. Perform unit testing.
  • Update and/or create new operational procedures.
  • Lead and/or participate in workshops to gather requirements for future projects/Change Requests.
  • Provide support and guidance to other IT and non-IT stakeholders when required.

What you bring to the table:

  • 5-8 years experience in SAS Programming and ETL Tools such as Informatica, SAS DIS.
  • General data manipulation using programming languages (SAS, SQL).
  • System troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Experience in Linux shell environment.
  • Data mapping and an understanding of data models.
  • Experience in business intelligence, data warehouse.
  • Good knowledge of User Account Management, Access Rights & Revalidation, RBAC.
  • Experience with various development methodologies (SDLC, Scrum, Kanban), including processes and tools to support these methodologies (i.e., JIRA).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Superior problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Proactive and self-starter with strong organizational skills to be able to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • University degree, college diploma and/or certifications in a related discipline or equivalent training and work experience.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.

Strong Assets:

  • Involvement/experience in mid to large size system development projects.
  • Experience in P&C insurance.
  • Experience working on IFRS17 or similar regulatory compliance projects.
  • Experience with IFRS17 tools such as Stratum, IRM and Visual Analytics Tools; SAS Management Console.
  • Having experience in creating/modifying workflow templates in SAS Risk Governance Framework (RGF) and creating workflows in SAS IRM.
  • Data mapping and understanding of SAS IFRS17 Data models.
  • Good understanding of system Monitoring and Logging concepts.
  • Experience in managing local and remote GIT repositories, including cloning, branching, and merging.
  • Use GIT to track changes, manage code versions and collaborate with team members.
  • Implement and manage branching strategies to support development workflows.
  • Utilize pull requests for code reviews and handle merge conflicts.
  • Understanding of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuation Planning.
  • Experience collaborating with Auditors.
