Building Service Worker

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Building Service Worker to join our team at the Recreation Centre. As a key member of our facilities team, you will provide support to Arena Attendants and Custodians in maintaining clean and safe facilities for seasonal work, programs, events, and rentals.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain clean and tidy facilities and public spaces before, during, and after programs, events, and rentals.
- Assist with cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, washing, and mopping floors.
- Strip, wax, and polish floors as required.
- Clean dressing rooms, showers, and washrooms.
- Wash walls, clean windows, and arena glass.
- Pick up trash, change, and dispose of garbage bags.
- Restock dispensers in washrooms and change rooms.
- Sweep sidewalks and clear snow as required.
- Assist with setting up and taking down equipment such as portable floors, stages, draping, tables, and chairs.
- Assist with the removal or installation of retractable seating, hockey boards, and glass.
- Assist with converting dry floors and ice sheets, including making ice.
- Transport program, event, and rental equipment between required locations.
- Assist with seasonal work as required.
- Communicate effectively with co-workers both verbally and in writing.
- Current B.C. Driver's Licence.
- Ability to perform manual work such as cleaning, setting up, and taking down equipment, shoveling snow, and sustain the physical demands of the position.
- Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers and the public as required.
- No experience is required; training will be provided.
- Able to obtain and maintain an acceptable Police Information Check.
- Building Service Worker Certificate or cleaning course.
- WHMIS certificate.
- Lift Truck Certification (formerly Forklift Certification).
- Proficient knowledge of janitorial equipment and procedures.
- Able to efficiently operate light equipment including, but not limited to, a wet dry vacuum, floor scrubber, snow blower, leaf blower, and ride-on tractor.
- Previous building conversion experience.
