JOB DESCRIPTION
The Director of Sales & Marketing plays a crucial role in leading a dynamic sales team, overseeing all marketing initiatives, and driving hotel room revenues while influencing all revenue streams. As a key member of the Executive Committee, the Director of Sales & Marketing is a creative, energetic, and knowledgeable professional essential for the continued success of Fairmont Winnipeg.
What you will be doing:
- Developing and implementing the hotel's sales & marketing plan and budget to achieve revenue goals.
- Leading and nurturing the sales team to surpass sales targets and maximize potential aligned with the strategic plan.
- Managing sales training, setting yearly sales targets, and overseeing sales quotas and incentive plans.
- Actively participating in local business development for social events and small meetings across various markets.
- Collaborating with the Director of Revenue to optimize business strategies and revenue streams.
- Monitoring competitors' sales and marketing strategies and responding strategically to secure more business for the hotel.
- Identifying opportunities for new business sources across different market segments to expand the account base.
- Ensuring the effectiveness of all sales technology.
- Overseeing guest service delivery to exceed expectations and working closely with the Conference Service team for operational efficiency.
- Establishing and maintaining communication with corporate sales and marketing teams.
- Exploring synergistic opportunities with other local hotels alongside the Regional DOS&M.
- Coordinating sales and marketing efforts with local tourism initiatives to position the hotel as a leader.
- Exemplifying Fairmont Service Promise Standards and Fairmont Values in all interactions with colleagues and guests.
- Complying with colleague health, safety responsibilities, and environmental policies.
- Representing Fairmont Winnipeg in the community at local events and galas.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and/or Hotel Management degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior sales management role in hospitality or related tourism field.
- Essential experience in revenue management.
- Proficiency in social media analytics and data analysis.
- Strong communication skills in interpersonal, written, and public relations.
- Demonstrated leadership, team development, and results-oriented approach.
- Computer literacy in MS Office and Property Manager.
Key Deliverables to success:
- Adherence to Fairmont brand standards in Sales and Catering.
- Utilization of Voice of the Guest surveys related to the Meeting Planner, Sales, and Overall phases.
- Consistent application of Service Promise standards and Fairmont values in all interactions.
- Positive evaluations from Commercial audits.
- Creating a successful departmental environment that yields results for Colleagues, Guests, Brand, and Owner.
- Achieving Departmental revenue goals and Sales Team activity targets.
- Compliance with Green policies and procedures.
