Job Description

The Technical Leader will provide technical expertise and guidance to the Veolia Winnipeg Team, ensuring the successful delivery of capital projects related to the three wastewater treatment facilities. Key responsibilities include:

* Providing technical advice and guidance on the design, construction, and commissioning of capital projects
* Developing strategies and indicators to optimize process equipment and improve operational efficiency
* Supporting continuous operational improvement and environmental compliance
* Managing and leading the technical role in Capital Program Delivery for the WSTP
* Collaborating with the City Project Managers to review documents and attend meetings
* Developing and maintaining a working relationship with plant operations and maintenance teams
* Providing technical knowledge and expertise to the client on treatment process, construction, and other technical areas

Key Responsibilities

* Support the WSTP as an integral player by reviewing and assisting in the preparation of deliverables during the Project Initiation phase
* Participate and provide recommendations to the Program/Management and Leadership Teams
* Promote key concepts such as procurement improvements, reliability, operation efficiency, and capital target costs
* Review and provide technical advice during the design, construction, and commissioning of major process equipment
* Assist in managing Technical Program risks
* Understand the interactions/impacts between existing plant processes and new construction
* Provide or facilitate knowledge and expertise to the client on technical issues relating to treatment process, construction, or other technical areas

Qualifications

* Educational Background: Degree in a chemical (process), environmental engineering or a related discipline
* Project Management knowledge and experience
* Minimum of 12 years' experience with 8 years' experience directly related to wastewater treatment facilities
* Professional Engineer in the Province of Manitoba or the ability to obtain within six months of employment
* Capable of playing a central role in coordinating and integrating progress across internal and external program team members
* At least ten years progressive experience within a water/wastewater treatment environment (advisory, design, construction, operation or similar)
* Thorough knowledge of Process/Operations Management, QA/QC procedures, Safety, Environmental and Facilities/Capital Equipment Management
* Demonstrated knowledge of budget preparation and cost control and ability to forecast budget, staffing and equipment needs
* Strong partnering abilities to develop networks and build alliances; collaborate across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals

* 100% at site/office
* Must have Valid Driver's License
* Possible Work Hazards:
+ Must take care in moving or lifting office supplies
+ Exposure to industrial and construction plant hazards including excavations, noise, heavy equipment, fumes and chemicals
* Physical Demands:
+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
+ The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch
+ The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
