Your Opportunity

You will lead the design of electrical systems for buildings, ensuring that they are safe, efficient, and sustainable. Your expertise will be instrumental in evaluating, recommending, and specifying engineered systems or products that meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead large building projects of high complexity, overseeing the development of electrical systems from concept to completion.
  • Evaluate and select electrical systems, products, and materials that meet project requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement design solutions that balance functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution and delivery.
  • Prepare and revise documentation, including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details, to ensure accuracy and clarity.
  • Participate in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating to ensure that projects meet client needs and expectations.
  • Develop and manage project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of project specifications with construction documents.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Develop new standards and specifications for the electrical group to drive innovation and excellence.
  • Assist with the development of proposals for large, complex projects to ensure that client needs and expectations are met.
  • Oversee and manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and resources to ensure successful project delivery.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable energy codes.
  • Excellent understanding of building electrical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Ability to lead teams through all phases of project document production, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Advanced understanding of electrical engineering concepts and the ability to communicate ideas to others.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and other relevant software.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, with a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia.
  • Minimum 13 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong track record of delivering complex projects.

Work Environment

Typical office environment work, with occasional field work that may involve exposure to inclement weather.
