**Job Summary:** We are seeking a skilled Building Operator to join our team in Victoria, BC. The ideal candidate will have experience in facilities maintenance and operations, with a strong focus on accountability, judgement, and problem-solving.

**Job Responsibilities:**

  • Perform daily rounds and log readings, investigating any issues
  • Complete preventative and demand maintenance tasks, inputting histories into a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Start-up and shutdown building infrastructure equipment
  • Inspect, operate, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical systems and equipment
  • Perform repairs, including replacing washers and faucets, clearing sinks and drains, and resetting breakers
  • Maintain fan and air handling units, including greasing bearings and replacing filters
  • Conduct water treatment tests and generator tests
  • Troubleshoot and repair building infrastructure equipment
  • Identify materials and services required for facility operation
  • Conduct and monitor building operation, responding to tenant and client requests and emergencies
  • Escalate unusual events and occurrences to supervisor
  • Assist with monthly reporting and work in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and other applicable codes
  • Work with other site building trades and oversee work of contractors and external service providers
  • Perform security rounds and respond to security incidents
  • Maintain good working relationships with tenants, staff, suppliers, contractors, and external service providers

**Requirements:**

  • BES I or II Certificate, or 4th class Operating Engineer, or provincial trades certification of qualification and/or relevant working experience
  • Previous experience in facilities maintenance and operations
  • Demonstrated capabilities in accountability, judgement, decision-making, problem-solving, and effective communication
  • Proven ability to interact with clients, tenants, management, and staff
  • Personal leadership attributes, including integrity, trustworthiness, results-focused, high standards, commitment, ethical values, and achievement-oriented
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Willingness to work shifts and weekends
