Backend Engineer at eBay Join Our Team as a Backend Engineer

About the Role

We're looking for an outstanding Backend Engineer to join our Buyer Experience engineering team. As a key member of our team, you'll work on key parts of eBay like the item page, home page, my ebay, global header, and growth experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and ship features, experiments, and products for millions of eBay users.
  • Communicate effectively with the team and across disciplines to craft compelling user experiences.
  • Contribute meaningfully to our team's technical and product strategy.
  • Participate in product reviews and team meetings to provide technical insight and help scope, estimate, and prioritize between conflicting needs.
  • Help foster a healthy engineering culture and collaborate with other engineers.
Requirements
  • Self-motivated engineer with a demonstrated ability to get things done.
  • Strong communicator with experience working with engineering and cross-functional partners.
  • Strong Java programming skills with familiarity with a framework like Spring Boot.
  • Experience building and leveraging RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
  • Knowledge of SOLID principles and ability to write high-quality, testable, maintainable code.
  • Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of software design and front-end engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing features for a public-facing cloud app at high scale.
  • Experience working as a Full Stack engineer with a balance of expertise across modern web technologies and backend service code.
  • Expertise in JavaScript frameworks, HTML, and CSS3.
  • Experience with cross-browser, cross-platform, and design constraints on the web and mobile.
  • Experience working on data-driven projects using A/B, multivariate, or other performance testing strategies.
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies such as Scrum.
