What can I expect to do in this role?In this role, you will:

  • Lead and manage the development, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive technical and practical training systems and standardized programs to meet any accreditation requirements, mandatory training, or strategic learning and skills development program goals.
  • Audit adult learning courses to ensure high-quality delivery, evaluating and providing feedback.
  • Review, guide and approve course training standards, applying adult learning best practices for defensible training.
  • Lead complex curriculum design projects including multi-phase projects, and courses.
  • Apply evidence-based policing strategies to augment training and improve officer safety and public trust and confidence in policing.
  • Oversee and manage development and establishment of related training strategies, delivery mechanisms, client-based service delivery models and agreements, and training standards for curriculum content.
  • Lead development of key partnerships and consultation frameworks, and to direct and manage consultation processes to ensure that stakeholders are engaged in the development of new training and change initiatives.

Leadership Skills

  • You have demonstrated aptitude to develop, build and lead organizational capacity through positive and values based leadership, inclusive and engaged teams, and partnerships.
  • You can manage and lead projects and project teams, ensuring effective project management from conceptualization of projects through to post-implementation in support of critical and high profile training and testing, and other program and policy development initiatives.
  • You can lead the development of performance measures and indicators to monitor the effectiveness of targeted training initiatives and programs.
  • You have knowledge of change management and continuous improvement processes, with proven ability to lead program related continuous improvement initiatives, change processes and products.
Adult Education and Curriculum Design

  • You have demonstrated ability to manage the design, development and monitoring of course standards, course content, guest lecturers and the delivery of training to ensure its consistency, effectiveness and its alignment with business plans.
  • You know adult education and training methodologies, principles and practices, including needs assessment, program design, training system strategies and delivery methods.
  • You can determine the need for training improvement and develop performance indicators used to monitor, track and report on outcomes impacting a key provincial certification training program.
  • You have knowledge of emerging trends, methodologies and principles in the field.
  • You can provide strategic expertise and leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of a comprehensive training system, standards and standardized training certification program.
  • You can determine the strategy to implement the training program or system across sectors, the stakeholders and partners to best provide training and support, and the tools necessary to contribute to standardized training development and delivery.
Strategic Thinking and Analysis

  • You can identify trends and potential impact of emerging trends and issues impacting training programs, training strategies, delivery mechanisms, client based service delivery models and agreements, and training standards.
  • You have proven capacity to assess the effectiveness of performance metrics, recommend improvements and develop program changes to meet strategic goals.
  • You can identify gaps, needs, and trends and potential issues impacting training programs, strategies, delivery mechanisms, or client based agreements.
  • You can develop strategies and plans to manage any identified risk and to address deficiencies and/or opportunities for enhancement.
Relationship Management and Communication Skills

  • You can establish consultation networks and mechanisms to engage partners and stakeholders.
  • You have proven ability to lead collaborative efforts on program and policy development design/redesign, to clarify requirements, discuss issues, and coordinate joint ventures.

  • You can present and advocate for program needs at various forums, including provincial working groups, senior courses and training to represent OPP interests.
Additional Information:
Note: Effective April 1, 2024 the salary range for this position is $105, ,429.00 per year. The new rates, effective retroactive to April 1, 2024, were recently confirmed and dates for implementation of the new salary rates are still to be determined.
