Job Summary

The Assistant Manager, Residence Assignments and Administration (AMRAA) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of residence life operations at UBC. This position oversees the occupancy management of over 13,000 student beds, ensuring a student-centered approach to room offers and assignments. The AMRAA manages various processes and responsibilities, focusing on enhancing productivity and streamlining administrative processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director and Manager of Administration to develop and implement strategic plans for residence offer and room assignment processes.
  • Develop and implement systems, technology solutions, and/or business process changes to enhance the efficiency of student housing offer, room assignment, and room transfer processes.
  • Manage a team of Admissions and Assignments staff (CUPE 2950), providing coaching, training, and performance management to ensure consistent and quality levels of service and support.
  • Handle complex student cases related to eligibility for student housing and outstanding fees, collaborating with department and campus partners for resolution.
  • Represent Student Housing at prospective student fairs, faculty and department information sessions, and other relevant events.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of one to two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication, leadership, training, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing staff in a multi-unit unionized environment preferred.
