Resident Care Director

The Resident Care Coordinator is a key member of the Sunrise Senior Living team, responsible for providing overall leadership and management of the long term care neighborhood. This role requires a strong focus on delivering high-quality care and services to residents, while also ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
Key Responsibilities- Resident Care and Programs:
- Develop and implement care plans that meet the unique needs of each resident, in collaboration with the care team and other stakeholders.
- Champion the Resident-Centered model, ensuring that care is delivered in a person-centered and resident-focused manner.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of Individualized Care Plans (ICPs), ensuring that they are comprehensive and meet the needs of each resident.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of care plans, making adjustments as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate with the activities and volunteer coordinator to ensure a variety of engaging activities are available to residents.
- Partner with the dining service coordinator to plan and implement special events and ensure a positive dining experience for residents.
- Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that the community is in compliance with all federal, provincial, and local laws and regulations, as well as Sunrise Senior Living standards and policies.
- Develop and implement plans to correct identified deficiencies in compliance with Sunrise expectations.
- Stay up-to-date on current and evolving regulatory requirements, ensuring that the community is in compliance.
- Partner with the leadership team to ensure compliance with British Columbia Workers Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulation requirements.
- Financial Management:
- Assist in the development and management of the community budget, ensuring that expenses are aligned with company standards and policies.
- Monitor and analyze financial data, identifying areas for improvement and implementing cost-saving measures.
- Process and submit monthly expenses and budget data in a timely manner.
- Training, Leadership, and Team Member Development:
- Recruit, hire, supervise, train, coach, and discipline team members, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge needed to deliver high-quality care and services.
- Develop and implement training programs to ensure that team members are up-to-date on company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members, ensuring that they are meeting performance expectations.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement strategies to improve team member engagement and retention.
- One (1) year experience in assisted living long term care or hospital industries or experience/exposure to the senior population.
- College degree and management experience may be required per provincial requirements.
- One (1) year supervisory and management experience, including hiring staff, coaching, performance management, daily operations supervision, discipline, and counseling.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and delegate assignments to team members based on their skills, roles, and interests.
- Competent in organizational and time management skills, with the ability to facilitate small group presentations.
- Demonstrates good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrates proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel) and Sunrise applications, with the ability to learn new applications.
