Job Summary

The Senior Controller will provide critical accounting, financial control, and financial reporting support to the Finance Department.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting of the Company's results
  • Manage and oversee in-house and outsourced accounting/bookkeeping personnel
  • Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports as required
  • Ensure Company compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards
  • Manage the annual audit process and ensure Company readiness
  • Ensure the Company has the necessary financial resources to meet its annual operating plan
  • Manage and maintain bank accounts and financial relationships
  • Develop and implement effective internal controls and financial policies and procedures
  • Prepare the financial section of quarterly Management's Discussion and Analysis (MD&A)
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Canadian CPA designation is mandatory
  • Knowledge and application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Experience in public company financial reporting and management
  • Knowledge and experience in managing quarterly auditor reviews and annual audits
  • More than 10 years of progressively senior management experience in finance with a similar organization or a major CPA firm
  • Excellent managerial and leadership skills, with the ability to evaluate and direct the work of others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with accounting software and standard office equipment
  • US CPA designation is an asset
  • Masters degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance is an asset
