Key Responsibilities


As a Senior Financial Director at Douglas College, you will:



  • Provide strategic financial leadership and oversight to ensure the college's financial stability and growth.
  • Lead the preparation of financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and controls to maintain financial integrity and risk management.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of finance professionals, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to drive business decisions, informed by sound financial analysis and advice.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, including tax, auditing, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Manage the college's treasury function, including banking, investments, and cash management.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with financial operations, ensuring the college's assets are protected.
  • Maintain accurate and reliable financial records, using advanced data systems and tools.
  • Deliver training and support to staff on financial matters, ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform their roles effectively.
  • Participate in strategic planning, contributing to the development of the college's overall vision and goals.

Requirements


To be successful as a Senior Financial Director at Douglas College, you will require:



  • A relevant university degree, preferably combined with a CPA designation.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in financial management, preferably in a post-secondary educational setting or similar.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, with experience mentoring and developing staff.
  • Strong technical abilities, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and major ERP systems (Banner).
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and regulations, with a focus on maintaining financial integrity and risk management.
  • Demonstrated decision-making capacity, with the ability to work effectively in a collegial environment.
