About the Role
  • Lead the bank's climate initiatives, including developing a transition plan and proposing strategies to mitigate climate risk and opportunity.
  • Develop and propose policies, plans, and programs to facilitate the implementation of climate change and sustainability strategy, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Integrate analysis of physical and transition risk for real estate and other applicable areas into stress testing and capital requirements.
  • Build innovative approaches to training, toolkits, and dashboards for embedding climate across various lines of business and corporate areas.
  • Continuously research climate and sustainability broadly to understand and communicate emerging risks to senior management.
Key Responsibilities
  • Climate Risk:
    • Develop and propose policies, plans, and programs to facilitate the implementation of climate change and sustainability strategy, monitoring, and reporting.
    • Integrate analysis of physical and transition risk for real estate and other applicable areas into stress testing and capital requirements.
    • Build innovative approaches to training, toolkits, and dashboards for embedding climate across various lines of business and corporate areas.
    • Continuously research climate and sustainability broadly to understand and communicate emerging risks to senior management.
  • Strategy & Analysis:
    • Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal stakeholders to enhance awareness and drive buy-in of sustainability and influence strategies and actions to capture opportunities related to sustainability, climate change, and related topics.
    • Prepare the analysis and calculations related to the bank's Carbon Footprint and propose targets to compare and measure against.
    • Develop and propose decarbonization strategies and cleantech opportunities in light of best practice and understanding of market expectations.
    • Monitor activities and collaborate proactively with leaders of each business area to continually advance the bank's climate agenda.
  • Reporting & Regulatory:
    • Manage the collection of information needed for sustainability-related measurements and disclosure.
    • Assess emerging sustainability standards and regulations and their impact on sustainability reporting measures and disclosures.
    • Prepare reporting for senior management and the board of directors on the impacts of climate risk on the bank and the bank's plan and status to comply with guidelines and standards.
Requirements
  • 8+ years working in a finance role, 1+ year experience working on ESG matters.
  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
  • CPA/CFA designation preferred, but not required.
