Food Service Worker II

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Food Service Worker II to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our food services team, you will be responsible for overseeing the collection and receipt of cash and/or meal tickets for items purchased in the cafeteria.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and verify cash register float, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions.
- Verify cash receipts against cash register printouts and balance, maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Prepare the kitchen for service by performing duties such as turning equipment on and off, putting food out, locking/unlocking doors and drawers, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.
- Prepare and complete bank deposit slips, accurately recording financial transactions.
- Count, weigh, and/or measure ingredients for assigned food preparation areas, ensuring quality and consistency in food preparation.
- Retrieve food items from freezers, refrigerators, and other storage areas, and place them in appropriate areas or thaw in refrigerators as required.
- Empty cash from dispensing machines, count and record amounts, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Assume responsibility for designated shifts, performing duties such as scheduling and coordinating work assignments, providing related training and orientation, and ensuring a smooth operation of the cafeteria.
- Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping and mopping floors, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Perform clerical duties such as answering the phone, filing, and recording information according to established procedures.
- Count and replenish food and supply stock according to established quotas/levels, and forward concerns to the Manager or designate.
- Advise the Manager or designate of any inoperable, damaged, or unsafe equipment, and follow established procedures for reporting and resolving issues.
- Grade 10, plus one (1) year's recent related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current Food Safe Level 1 certification or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
