Job Summary

MOBIA is seeking a skilled Field Data Collector to join our team. As a Field Data Collector, you will be responsible for capturing utility pole and customer premise information pertaining to existing telecom infrastructure in various field locations, using a state-of-the-art GIS handheld unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and record data on utility poles and customer premises using a GIS handheld unit.
  • Plan and execute daily data collection activities efficiently to ensure accurate and comprehensive data.
  • Work independently for approximately 90% of the time, navigating environmental terrain and tolerating various weather conditions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide timely and high-quality data.
  • Travel within and outside of your residing city for project requirements, including overnight or extended remote work.
  • Participate in 8-day (or longer) trips for field locations exceeding a reasonable daily commute distance.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education.
  • Valid G driver's license with a clear driving history.
  • Proficiency with MS-Office and ability to learn new systems and software programs.
  • Technical aptitude for digital handheld devices and mobile app software.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to interface with other departments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a telecommunications environment.
  • Experience working with GIS devices, like Trimble or IKE GPS units.
  • Experience in outside plant engineering.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • 1-2 years of experience working as a Land Surveyor.
