About Us
The Insurance and Partnerships Unit is responsible for working with industry and other government partners to develop policies and programs that help farmers manage business risks that are beyond their control (e.g. weather/pests, non-payment, predation).

The unit is responsible for providing policy direction and delivery oversight on several of the national Business Risk Management programs under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership framework, such as AgriInsurance (Production Insurance), as well as other provincial programs that support Ontario's agricultural sector (e.g.

Farm Business Registration Program, Farm Property Class Tax Rate Program, loan guarantee programs and financial protection programs).

  • Regularly scan for new trends, emerging issues, and conditions that could impact policies and programs.
  • Contribute to project planning by providing input on timelines, options, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other ministries on cross-ministry initiatives.
  • Attend stakeholder meetings and engagement events, gathering input on proposed policies and programs.
  • Present complex research and data related to the agrifood industry to various audiences
