Geological Engineer Job Description
Geological Engineer responsible for safe, efficient, and accurate operation of geotechnical and geophysical site investigation equipment, working closely with equipment operators and gaining hands-on experience with unique heavy machinery and sophisticated geotechnical instruments.
The Geological Engineer will assume various roles, from Assistant Field Operator to Project Coordinator, requiring well-developed interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, as well as strong problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Familiarize with and operate CPTu equipment, VST, sampling systems, geophysical instruments, and other in-situ testing equipment in a safe and productive manner.
- Perform testing to collect data in a timely, orderly, and accurate manner, compiling and submitting data to the Engineer/Supervisor and/or client.
- Identify with and respect ConeTec's safety culture, ensuring proper preparation and knowledge of safe operating procedures, and reporting any safety-related incidents or near misses.
- Communicate with the Supervisor or Project Manager regarding equipment problems, needs, and field observations, and perform other shop functions as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Applied Science, eligible for professional or member-in-training status with an engineering and geoscientist association.
- Driver's license and clean driving record.
- Previous field experience, academic experience, and experience with Microsoft Excel are assets.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, moving heavy materials, climbing, crawling, and working in all weather conditions.
Soft Skills:
- Strong work ethic and professional representation of the company.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Responsibility and ability to work well independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision.
- Enjoyment of working outdoors and traveling for extended periods.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
