Babcock International works with customers around the world to improve the capability, reliability, and availability of their most critical assets within the key market sectors of Marine, Land, Aviation, and Nuclear.
The company's Canadian team provides critical and complex support to Canada's submarine fleet and operates in the Aviation sector, where Babcock ensures that the aircrew trainees of partner nations receive the world's best flying training.
The Deputy Project Manager will be responsible for managing a team of 2-4 direct reports and the project activities of up to a 200 person indirect workforce, ensuring the occupational Health & Safety of all direct reports under their supervision.
The ideal candidate will have a post secondary education in an Engineering or Project Management discipline or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience, with a minimum of 8 years' experience supporting the delivery of major projects or operations.
The Deputy Project Manager will be responsible for:
- Managing project scope, deliverables, and change for assigned activities
- Developing and managing project schedules, including the definition and achievement of key events cardinal dates
- Ensuring the project follows required quality assurance commitments
- Monitoring and reporting on progress of the project to appropriate stakeholders through the development of effective performance management tools
- Executing the project management cycle from beginning to end stages
- Coordinating stakeholders, service providers, and subcontractors to deliver on project commitments
- Ensuring that active risk and opportunity management is employed to reduce the impact on schedule and develop recovery plans when issues arise
- Integrating the Functional Teams, including Production, Commissioning, Engineering, Planning, and Quality to ensure systems are handed over and set to work seamlessly
- Performing project reviews to evaluate performance, define progress, identify problems and their solutions, and develop reports to regularly communicate findings
- Implementing and managing project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
- Developing and delivering performance improvement initiatives while supporting other departments to identify and deliver on their own initiatives in support of the project goals
The Deputy Project Manager will be an active member of the Project Management Team in developing and communicating strategies and plans, including setting objectives across the organization to meet program goals.
