Nutrition Services Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Aide/Porter to join our Nutrition Services team at the University Health Network. As an Aide/Porter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our food service department.
Key Responsibilities- Delivering Meals and Supplies: Deliver meal carts, snacks, and bulk supplies to patient units in a timely and efficient manner.
- Food Tray Disassembly and Cleaning: Disassemble soiled patient trays, remove food debris from dishes, separate cutlery, and process soiled dishes through the dish machine.
- Stocking and Cleaning: Stock clean dishes in appropriate areas, collect soiled dish racks and empty meal carts from the loading dock and patient units, and return them to the kitchen. Wash and sanitize racks and meal carts, clean the ware washing area and dish machine, and handle totes of compostable material and garbage.
- Performing Cross-Functional Duties: Perform cross-functional duties as assigned and/or required, and perform other duties consistent with the job classification as needed.
- Education: Grade 12 or equivalent education.
- Skills and Abilities: Good manual dexterity and organizational skills, good team player, ability to read and understand short notes, brief forms, and memos, and ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
- Experience: 6 months of practical and related experience, Food Service Worker Certificate preferred, and Food Handlers Certificate preferred.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 10 kg, loading and unloading food trucks, pushing heavy food trucks during meal delivery, and working in warm/humid conditions.
