Location is flexible, within Alberta, dependent on the successful applicant.
However, periodically may be asked to work in other AFSC branches. Travel in these circumstances will be reimbursed according to AFSC's Employee and Board of Directors Expense Policy.

Please note: This is a twelve-month term-certain position. The successful candidate will require and a high level of demonstrated technical proficiency in maintaining and developing e-learning modules (preference given to experience using Adobe Captivate and Vyond), in addition a strong, practical background in adult learning.

Reporting to the Team Leader, Learning and Development, the Learning & Development Advisor - Program Design and Development, is responsible for the maintenance of current learning modules and the planning, design and implementation of new learning programs required to support the organization in meeting its Business Strategy.

This position has a significant role in the design, development and maintenance of training programs, e-learning modules and activities which provide AFSC staff with the ongoing, long-term improvement of skills, thereby enabling them to fulfill their potential within the organization.

Additionally, the Advisor will assist the Team Leader, Learning and Development to provide strategic advice and recommendation on staff development and training plans within appropriate fiscal, human and physical resources required for training delivery.

What will you be responsible for?

• Conduct learning needs assessments: Engage with team or department line managers to clarify short-term priorities for Learning and Development interventions; gather relevant data on performance and current levels of competence; identify gaps in relation to required levels and obtain agreement on required outcomes; design learning objectives for training courses and activities based on needs assessment.

• Design and develop training courses or strands of a learning and development program to meet learning objectives; incorporate specified L&D methodologies and delivery channels; develop relevant content and high-quality learning resources to ensure high levels of learner engagement and achievement of learning outcomes.

• Develop trainer and participant materials, including interactive e-learning modules and other online training materials.

• Provide input and support in the design and implementation of People programs such as career development, mentoring, leadership development and succession planning.

• Train assessors to engage learners, facilitate activities, and support individuals in their development planning.

• Deliver training sessions or short courses, engaging, advising, and guiding learners.

• Assist other facilitators to engage learners, direct activities, and support individuals in their development planning.

• Collaborate to create assessments using evaluation methodologies and tools that measure the impact of successful knowledge transfer for internal and external learning programs.

• Create reports and conduct analytics to identify measures and program effectiveness.

• Based on gathered data, make recommendations on improvement of training material and methodology.

• Evaluate learning solutions including in-house and third-party training programs.

• Proficient with eLearn authoring tools, video creation & editing software (experience with Adobe Captivate considered an asset).

• Knowledge of tools within learning management systems, usage and functionalities.

• Ability to establish project deliverables according to a project framework.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Education or related field (diploma, certificate or degree)

• 3 to 5 years of experience in Human Resources, talent management or training and development

• Post-secondary education in Adult Learning an asset

• Experience working with Learning Management System
