The Opportunity

We are currently looking to fill the position of Senior Financial Analyst. As a member of the Operations Finance team, primarily supporting the Tufts Cove Generating Station, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the financial performance of the plant and other aspects of the Power Generation portfolio as well as providing reliable and timely information and analysis to the Senior Manager, Operations Finance, Plant Management and Senior leadership to guide them in the decision-making process



Key elements of this role include:

  • Working with business leaders to prepare budgets and quarterly forecasts;
  • Providing accounting and analyses for the monthly, quarterly, and yearly closes;
  • Providing oversight & technical accounting support ;
  • Assisting the Senior leadership team to meet financial goals and identify cost saving initiatives;
  • Perform project and operational tasks with good overall quality, while being able to prioritize work to meet deadlines;
  • Preparing routine and ad hoc analysis, reports and special project responsibilities as assigned;
  • Identifying, recommending, and implementing process improvements.

As the ideal candidate you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and possess or are working towards the desired skills and experience listed below:

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Commerce, with a focus in finance or accounting, combined with a minimum of four years experience in a related role. A professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) or equivalent would be considered an asset. A related combination of experience and education will be considered;
  • You are proficient in the Microsoft suite of programs, particularly Microsoft Excel, and are comfortable using accounting software. A working knowledge of Power Plan, Oracle Financials and Directline would be considered an asset.
  • You possess solid oral and written communication skills and have demonstrated success in effectively presenting and communicating financial ideas and concepts at a variety of levels.
  • You have strong organizational skills, are details-oriented, and thrive in a deadline driven, team-focused environment.
  • You are a leader of people with a demonstrated ability to create a climate of commitment and participation among teams. An experienced leader would be an asset.
  • You work well both independently and in a team environment.
