Job SummaryThis is a regular, full-time position that offers a competitive hourly rate of $29.40. As a Certified Dental Assistant, you will work closely with dentists and other healthcare professionals to provide a range of dental services, including assisting with procedures, maintaining dental instruments and equipment, and exposing and processing dental radiographs.
Key Responsibilities- Assist dentists with all aspects of dentistry performed in the Outpatient Clinic or Dental Operating Room.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of dental and medical health records; complete statistics for the Outpatient Department and Operating Room.
- Maintain dental instruments and equipment; maintain appropriate levels of dental supplies, linen, stores and pharmacy supplies.
- Expose and process analogue and digital diagnostic quality dental radiographs; make dental impressions, prepare models and performs other related laboratory duties.
- Perform prophylaxis, fluoride and fissure sealant procedures.
- Demonstrate preventative techniques to patients in clinics both within and outside the hospital.
- Assist with the maintenance of quality assurance standards and their documentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Graduation from a recognized Certified Dental Assistant program plus one (1) year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current registration and licensure as a Certified Dental Assistant as required under the Dentist Act.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments.
