Maintenance Tech III - Painter (2 Year Contract)
Reporting to - Maintenance Supervisor
Scope of Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assist in the implementation of a preventive maintenance program for the built environment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, design specifications and sketches to determine building finishes specifications and to calculate materials and labour hours requirements for the work.
- Develop painting and finishing repairs schedules and plans.
- Apply paint or other materials such as stains, lacquer or varnish using brushes, rollers or spray equipment. Preparing and cleaning surfaces. Removing old wallpaper and paint. Repairing cracks and holes in walls.
- Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, molding, and hardware, as required to complete other works related to painting tasks.
- Maintain all painted, graphic walls and drywall within the Facility.
- Maintain surface exterior doors, fencing, gates, concrete coatings, and exterior line and sign painting.
- Maintain, repair, paint and renovate building fabric elements within the Facility, including exterior cladding.
- Operate and maintain painting, drywall, siding and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
- Perform Minor Work requests as assigned.
- Contribute and participate in the effective use of the Quality Control System.
- Participate in a call-out system to assist the Company in responding to emergency situations.
- Within the Facility, escort contractors and other staff who do not have the appropriate RCMP security clearance, as permitted by the RCMP.
- If physically capable, remove snow and ice from sidewalks when required to meet Project Agreement time requirements.
- Comply with the Company's policies, plans and procedures.
- Fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Management Plans.
- Support the Company's Quality Policy Statement and actively participate in the achievement of Company and personal Quality objectives.
- Undertake such other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as may reasonably be required within the Department/Service.
Essential Attributes :
- BC Trades Certification in relevant trade.
- Working knowledge of material system, methods, and equipment used in facility maintenance work.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards, safe working practices, and applicable regulations in Facility Management in accordance with Work Safe Regulations.
- Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory standards of maintenance and to implement predictive and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision and be collaborative in dealing with fellow employees.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customer by being customer focused and responding promptly to customer needs.
- Ability to do layout and finishing of typical projects, including a variety of room additions and renovations.
- Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details to team members and others.
- Obtain and maintain a RCMP Reliability Status Security Clearance.
