The Project Controls Director will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring project compliance to Aecon's Project Controls standards and applicable contract documents.
  • Establishing and maintaining integrated Project Controls systems, overseeing cost and schedule baselines.
  • Leading meetings to communicate project performance status to the wider project team.
  • Leading a team of Project Controls staff specializing in planning, scheduling, cost control, change management, and risk management.
  • Supporting Project Managers in tracking overall project health, establishing and maintaining communication plans.
  • Providing input into the continuous improvement of Aecon's Project Controls policies and guidelines.
  • Overseeing analysis and reporting of project performance key metrics, proposing corrective actions to maintain performance/productivity.
  • Implementing and maintaining an Earned Value Management plan to measure project performance, identify variances, and inform accurate forecasting.
  • Leading the development of project-specific Project Controls plans, documenting processes and procedures.
  • Leading the development and implementation of a project-specific change management plan, ensuring compliance with contract conditions and Aecon's standards.
  • Providing support to Commercial and Procurement teams on subcontractor claims assessment, client claims development, negotiations, and dispute resolutions.
  • Providing commercial and technical expertise to support proposal development and provide commercial input into contractually defined project control requirements.
  • Ensuring adherence to all contract conditions regarding Project Controls requirements, project set-up, monitoring, and close-out.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong partnerships with client counterparts and joint venture stakeholders.
  • Conducting annual performance reviews and providing constructive feedback, implementing performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Participating in project-level resource planning, utilization analysis, and resource leveling, managing and maintaining Project Controls staffing plan forecasts.
  • Developing a project-specific Risk Management Plan for incorporation into the Project Controls Plan.
  • Establishing cadence for risk reviews and leading risk review meetings to identify, evaluate, and update risks that may have a cost and/or schedule impact.
  • Assisting risk owners in establishing, implementing, and tracking mitigating actions and contingency plans.
  • Establishing quantitative risk analysis (QRA) cadence, overseeing QRA, and articulating the results and variance analysis to project leadership.
