Senior Application Support Analyst

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Application Support Analyst, where you will play a critical role in maintaining and supporting multiple Windows and Linux applications in Finance and Audit IT. As a key member of our team, you will partner with IT, business lines, and 3rd party vendors to analyze issues and technical system needs to resolve business issues and provide business solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate, resolve, and report on medium to highly complex technical issues requiring business application understanding.
  • Work closely with business clients to understand priorities and impact and provide timely and accurate reports to management and end-users on status of critical systems processes.
  • Proactively identify and act on emerging issues to resolve them in the short and long term, requiring rapid response and the ability to synthesize multiple technical factors quickly.
  • Make recommendations on process improvements and enhance system and support documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with development and SRE teams by identifying defects and opportunities for efficiencies through automation and enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with SLA metrics as agreed with business and lead support-based initiatives of various complexity.
  • Actively participate in Agile development projects to represent the interests of maintaining Production application stability and adhering to Production readiness standards.
  • Work on IT Risk deliverables, including participating in DR exercises, helping in DR planning and design, and interacting with various auditors to ensure applications function according to published RBC IT Risk Standards.
  • Provide direction, expertise, feedback, coaching, and development to build the capabilities of more junior staff.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a 24*7 production support role and supporting multiple applications.
  • 5+ years of experience in Windows & Linux technology platform, Hadoop, Hive, MSSQL & Oracle Server, Shell & SQL scripts.
  • Strong analytical skill set and strong communication skills, able to communicate effectively in both technical and business terms.
  • Ability to work independently, apply critical and strategic thinking to issues, and manage deadlines while multi-tasking amongst different priorities.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL Standards, Methodologies, SDLC, & audit requirements.
  • Experience working with teams across various geographies and familiar and comfortable with Change Management activities.
  • BS / Computer Science degree or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Zeke scheduler & kdb+
  • Java, Scala, Powershell and Python experience
  • Working experience with ServiceNow Tool
  • Understanding of SRE concepts
  • Knowledge about IFRS17 standards
  • Experience in supporting IBM datastage applications
