Project Leader for New Nuclear Project

Seeking a seasoned Project Leader to coordinate project execution teams and manage project documentation for the New Nuclear Project at Ontario Power Generation's Pickering and Darlington Nuclear Generating Station.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize, coordinate, and control all stages of project management in accordance with Project Management governance.
  • Prepare project background information, contribute to scope and constructability reviews, and prepare business case submissions for project approval.
  • Coordinate project plans, gather input from stakeholders, and arrange for necessary approvals and licenses.
  • Lead meetings to coordinate project requirements and progress, evaluate project plans for risk, and develop mitigation plans.
  • Perform Contract Administrator role, review and approve contractor submissions, and ensure contractor preparedness for safe work practices.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and agencies to meet project objectives.
  • Visit manufacturers and suppliers, observe plant sites, and provide input for Ontario Power Generation application.
  • Maintain awareness of latest construction, budgeting, estimating, and scheduling practices, and liaise with plant production and work control staff.

Requirements:

  • 4-year university degree in Engineering, Science, or Business.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is a desirable asset.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is a desirable asset.
  • 6-10 years of experience in project management, specifically in developing project requirements and plans, preparing cost estimates, and managing projects and contracts in execution phase.
  • 5+ years of experience in a live construction environment, including the planning phase.
  • Experience working with Generators and Turbines is a strong asset.
  • Experience within the Nuclear industry is a strong asset.
  • Prior experience in managing conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Sound knowledge and familiarity with equipment and processes in hydroelectric generating stations or similar heavy industries.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to provide guidance.
  • Experience and knowledge of cost accounting and forecasting as it relates to project management.
  • Experience in managing projects of increasing complexity, with multiple-contract, multiple-stakeholder projects with schedule constraints.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills and highly developed organizational skills.
