Registered Nurse, Icu Surgical Stepdown

St. Joseph's Health Centre currently has an exciting opportunity to join our critical care team as a Registered Nurse in Surgical Stepdown.
In this position, you will use your expertise in caring for surgical patients to provide a higher level of care in a level 2 environment with a reduced bed to nurse ratio of 2:1. As part of the ICU team, you will receive ample support and education to enhance and improve your nursing skills. This position is ideally suited to a candidate who appreciates a higher level of acuity, enjoys fast-paced environments, has interest and/or expertise is the care of surgical patients, and who is looking for truly rewarding and innovative work. The ideal candidate will possess superior nursing and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated competence in post-op surgical care. Working collaboratively alongside other health care professionals you will demonstrate the ability to incorporate current evidence and best practice into plans of care and in the provision of your professional nursing services. You will approach the planning, delivery of care to patients and families in a manner which promotes health and well-being, recognizes patient dignity and regards patients and their families as an essential partner in the delivery of healthcare. As a member of our critical care team, you are highly-adaptable, highly-flexible and thrive in a fast paced environment. The Registered Nurse will be committed to continuous professional development of their nursing competencies.
Qualifications include:
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. A minimum of 2 years of recent Medical/Surgical experience is required with a preference for candidates who have surgical experience. (Candidates with less than 2 years¿ experience may be considered if there are no qualified internal or external applicants). Current BLS Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate within an inter-professional team. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education. Ability to be well organized and flexible. Excellent computer skills. Satisfactory attendance record.As a condition of employment, all external hires will be required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination or documentation unless a valid accommodation under the Ontario Human Rights Code exists.
