Job Description


The Master Data Analyst's primary role is to enhance business value through technology and process enhancements by maintaining the accuracy of Engineering Master Data.

The position focuses on identifying, implementing, and supporting business processes and technological advancements for Engineering.


Main Responsibilities


Data Maintenance and Analysis

  • Update CN Enterprise Plant Inventory, Systems, SAP, GIS database, and EGIS to reflect asset changes in CN's track network
  • Analyze complex data from various sources to derive actionable insights
  • Integrate spatial and non-spatial data formats while ensuring adherence to accuracy and network topology standards for safe rail operations
  • Monitor and report on the progress of asset changes in the workflow management system to comply with CN policies and standards
  • Conduct data queries and generate reports for Engineering, Accounting, and Transportation departments
  • Assist in devising long-term maintenance strategies for GIS data related to Engineering and Corporate geospatial applications
  • Collaborate with Information and Technology (I&T) and Systems Development teams to develop reports
  • Engage with project teams and stakeholders on Engineering initiatives
Field Employees Support

  • Build expertise and provide guidance on Engineering systems
  • Aid Field team members, including Track Supervisors and Senior Managers, in interpreting reports and ensuring accurate and timely reporting
  • Assist Field team members in resolving Engineering systems issues
Communication and Coordination

  • Coordinate data package creation for various projects and technologies like Positive Train Control (PTC) and Autonomous Track Inspection Program (ATIP)
  • Facilitate communication among different engineering disciplines and business teams to obtain spatial data, drive GIS initiatives, and coordinate updates
  • Collaborate and communicate with peers, field staff, and different departments
  • Emphasize communication and nurture collaboration by providing regular updates to teams on ongoing initiatives, encouraging teamwork to achieve shared goals and knowledge enhancement.
Working Environment
This role operates in a typical office setting during regular workdays from Monday to Friday.

The position requires on-call availability to address critical incidents on evenings and weekends on a rotating basis, involving occasional overtime.

Due to the role's nature, the incumbent must work well under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage stress effectively.

Limited travel is expected (10%).


Requirements


Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in the geospatial sector
Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a geospatial focus

Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Understanding of cartographic concepts and standards
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Map 3D and GIS topologies
  • Knowledge of plans and drawings
  • Proficiency in Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), ArcGIS Desktop, ArcMap Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Network Analyst extensions, high precision GPS technologies, post-processing, and Commercial Relational Database Management Systems like Oracle
  • Understanding of Railroad operations
  • Familiarity with SAP and CN SystemsAdditional skills/attributes for the above would be advantageous.
