Sewer Operations Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Sewer Operations Technician to join our team at the City of Burnaby. As a key member of our Sewer Operations, Maintenance and Construction division, you will be responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled manual tasks requiring the use of some independent judgement and action.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform sewer cleaning, unstopping, and flushing tasks
  • Dig shafts and tunnels and in trenches of such depth as to require staging
  • Repair and install sewer mains and connections
  • Assist in pipe laying, shoring and timbering work
  • Break blacktop and concrete surfaces using pneumatic hammer and compressor accessories
  • Assist in concrete finishing for manholes, and catch basins

Requirements:

  • Up to high school graduation, and experience in general construction and maintenance work
  • Some knowledge of the safety equipment and practices methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in sewer related construction and maintenance work
  • Ability to perform a variety of semi-skilled manual tasks requiring the use of some independent judgement and action
  • Valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia
