We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Dental Assistant to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a key member of our dental team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of high-quality dental services.
Key Responsibilities- Assist dentists with all aspects of dentistry, including procedures performed in the Outpatient Clinic or Dental Operating Room.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dental and medical health records, and complete statistics for the Outpatient Department and Operating Room.
- Maintain dental instruments and equipment, and ensure appropriate levels of dental supplies, linen, stores, and pharmacy supplies.
- Expose and process analogue and digital diagnostic quality dental radiographs, make dental impressions, prepare models, and perform other related laboratory duties.
- Perform prophylaxis, fluoride, and fissure sealant procedures.
- Demonstrate preventative techniques to patients in clinics both within and outside the hospital.
- Assist with the maintenance of quality assurance standards and their documentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Graduation from a recognized Certified Dental Assistant program, plus one (1) year's recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current registration and licensure as a Certified Dental Assistant, as required under the Dentist Act.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
- Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples, and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism, and Indigenous Cultural Safety, and foundational documents and legislative commitments.
