We have partnered with our client, located in Toronto West, in their search for a Senior Accountant for a 3 month contract term with a possibility of permanent full time.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation of financial reporting. The responsibility includes management of all data collection processes,
reconciliation of variances, resolution of issues identified within specific accounts.

The focus of this role is approximately 50% related to month end activities with the remaining focus on creating financial analysis and creating reports.

Responsibilities
As a Senior Accountant, and reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will be at the heart of financial operations, responsible for:

  • Orchestrating month-end close and journal entries
  • Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate representation of assets and liabilities
  • Crafting financial statement working papers, insightful analysis, and commentary
  • Proactively identifying operational efficiencies and business enhancements through indepth analysis
  • Coordinating financial reporting, understanding GAAP, and budget assumptions to ensure transparency
  • Developing efficient processes and systems for capturing and reporting financial data
  • Analyzing variances and collaborating with department managers to resolve discrepancies
  • Delivering precise internal financial and performance reports to support departmental management
  • Preparing external financial reports for stakeholders such as government bodies and banks
  • Collaborating closely with business units to tailor financial reporting to changing business needs
Qualifications

  • Professional Accounting Designation or actively enrolled is highly preferred.
  • A University Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field
  • 57 years of accounting experience, with 24 years of robust financial reporting experience
  • Being a subject matter expert capable of simplifying complex issues for management.
  • You Excel in spreadsheets, data management, and reporting
  • Thrive in a fastpaced environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Anticipate and proactively resolve challenges
  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
  • Possess a keen attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Embrace a collaborative, teamworkoriented approach
  • Adapt quickly and make independent decisions
  • Demonstrate a strong appetite for continuous learning and staying current in a dynamic environment
  • Understand business operations and build valuable partnerships
