About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Therapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering time-limited, evidence-based psycho-social assessments and treatments to adults with Tier-3 mental disorders and Substance Use Disorders.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree in a clinical health-related discipline and current registration with a relevant provincial regulatory body. You will have a minimum of two years' related experience, including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and discharge planning.

You will be expected to act in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice and profession. You will convey respect and a solid understanding of subtle and complex diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups.

About You
  • You will have a strong understanding of the principles of harm reduction, the dynamics of addiction, and evidence-based interventions for the treatment of addiction.
  • You will be able to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision, and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • You will have basic competencies in relation to identifying and treating concurrent mental health and substance use disorders.
  • You will have experience in interviewing, counseling, and teaching health concepts to individuals, families, and groups.
  • You will be able to collaborate with families in relation to sharing information and implementing family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of people living with mental illness and addiction.
Hours
  • This is a permanent full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly.
Compensation and Incentives

Clinical Therapist: $49.05 hourly

Clinical Therapist (Developmental): $42.01 hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
