The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Program at St. Boniface Hospital is committed to a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, patients, visitors, and contractors. The program manages and administers an occupational health service within legal and professional parameters, including conducting health examinations, assessing the work environment, providing prevention strategies, and managing data collection and information systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the designated Occupational Health functions for St. Boniface Hospital, including the efficient utilization and management of human, material, and financial resources. They will provide leadership in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of systems and goals, as well as developing, implementing, and maintaining the Occupational Health program.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Five years' experience in an Occupational Health and Safety setting or equivalent experience required.
  • Leadership experience, including leading a team of OHS specialists, collecting and analyzing data, and making recommendations to leadership.
  • Experience in research and data analysis, program planning, development, and evaluation, and project management.
  • Advanced preparation in Occupational Health and Safety required.
  • Extensive working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety policies, protocols, and programs specific to Disability case management, Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba programs and processes, and Manitoba Workplace Health & Safety Act and regulations.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish collegial and managerial relationships with superiors, peers, and subordinates.
  • Integrity, dependability, honesty, initiative, and high ethical standards.
  • Organization and time management skills.

  • Ability to plan, manage, and implement service/program changes and enhancements.
