We are specifically looking for a student with a background in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical engineering or a related field. As a Engineering co-op, you will be able to support senior engineers in exciting projects. Depending on the needs and location of the team, you will need to work PDT or MDT or relocate to a specific office (site-based). You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

Responsibilities
  • Participation in the health and safety programs of Teck to ensure that everyone on site goes home safe and healthy every day
  • Collaborate with engineering team to produce detailed plan technical projects on site such as developing maintenance strategies for critical fixed assets.
  • Opportunity to assist in coordination of maintenance projects relating to plant, mine and maintenance expansions and modifications; responsible for coordinating, scheduling and supervising the status of maintenance projects
  • Create and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business
  • Troubleshooting recurrent failures and determining root causes
  • Collaborating with engineering and site operations to coordinate, schedule, manage costs, analyze data, and monitor progress of projects

External Job Description
  • Working towards an Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Spanish speaking proficiency is required for this role
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Comfortable working in a multifaceted industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical and operational personnel
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and a solid understanding of AutoCAD and Solidworks would be advantageous
  • Previous work experience in a technical or engineering environment is an asset
  • Experience with form design, macros, and data analysis is an asset
  • Project management skills is an asset
  • Able to learn new technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently
  • Ability to communicate with precision in a technical environment
  • Able to articulate sophisticated concepts clearly and in a way a diverse audience would understand
Wage Range: $4600 - $5900

Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.
