About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel or Senior Counsel to join our dynamic team at Intact. As a key member of our Legal Affairs department, you will provide expert legal advice and support on a wide range of insurance regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal guidance on day-to-day operational matters, ensuring compliance with insurance regulatory laws and regulations.
  • Analyze, draft, and negotiate various service and distribution contracts, ensuring the integrity of the legal and regulatory aspects of our financial products and services.
  • Act as Legal Counsel or Senior Counsel on behalf of Intact and its subsidiaries, primarily in insurance regulatory law, including the development and distribution of insurance products, market conduct requirements, federal and provincial licensing, and marketing law.
  • Participate in national strategic projects, collaborating with the Manager or Vice President of Legal Affairs, as needed.
Qualifications
  • Member of the Barreau du Québec in good standing.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience at a large law firm or large in-house department, in commercial, corporate, and/or insurance law, preferably in a regulated industry.
  • Superior technical legal skills, with excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage files independently with minimal support, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Comfort with technology tools, including good working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to assess the practical implications of legal risks and think strategically.
  • Ability to proactively propose innovative business solutions and build relationships with business units and stakeholders.
  • Team player with exceptional collaboration skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple files and projects simultaneously.
  • Bilingualism (French and English, both written and spoken) is required for candidates located in Quebec, considering the necessity to interact regularly with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
