Job Description Summary

The Manager, AML Operations – Road to Strong (RTS) will support successful outcomes along the multi-year program journey. The individual will contribute to the Bank's continuous efforts to strengthen its risk and control environment, through the following accountabilities:

  • Understanding the scope and impact of program changes;
  • Helping to drive/refine business requirements (and support testing, where applicable);
  • Preparing documents/submissions per program requirements, including challenge memos and artifacts, throughout the review and validation processes;
  • Drafting and presenting well-supported recommendations regarding risk-based process changes;
  • Managing stakeholder relationships including with business subject matter experts, program executives, consultants, challenge partners, etc.; and
  • Working closely with the program office as a point of contact across RTS activities, for AML Operations.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Collaborate with and influence partners, sponsors and businesses to make effective business decisions
  • Provide support and input to the required documentation/deliverables and monitor/assess to mitigate risks, ensure quality outputs and track progress
  • Provide guidance and direction to ensure the business possesses a strong understanding of the end to end approach when making decisions within projects/programs
  • Provide leadership guidance to stakeholders to build effective relationships that support business goals
  • Support the business with customer problem resolution to pro-actively identify potential issues and support the resolution of issues/escalations or redirect as appropriate
  • Work with Change Management to assess and ensure that customer and employee experience / stakeholder impacts are appropriately identified and managed
  • Act as a consultant / resource to business partners and stakeholders at all levels by promoting and developing awareness of best practices
  • Promote innovation by applying subject matter expertise to generate forward-thinking ideas as well as critical thinking to find opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure timely notification and escalation of possible issues/problems while assessing options and recommendations for prompt resolution.
  • Ensure work meets associated regulatory and framework controls, standards, and best practices.
  • Support the business by managing and building positive relationships with partners and key stakeholders
  • Effectively communicate with stakeholders to ensure alignment to delivery framework and objectives.
  • Apply analytical skills to effectively understand business problems, impacted stakeholders, and proposed solutions to ensure alignment to TD's risk appetite. Identify, document, and actively manage material risks and issues, escalating to appropriate leadership when necessary to ensure the timely and unimpeded progress of work.
  • Promptly manage concerns from stakeholders and ensure timely and effective problem resolution.
  • Support change management planning and activities, including those that ensure operational readiness.
  • Support implementation and post-implementation planning and activities.
  • Provides support/oversight and guidance in the delivery of requirements with focus on quality, reusability, scalability, and innovation.

  • Participate fully as a member of the team, support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest.
  • Provide thought leadership and/ or industry knowledge for own area of expertise in own area and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit.

  • Participate in personal performance management and development activities, including cross training within own team.
  • Keep others informed and up-to-date about the status / progress of projects and / or all relevant or useful information related to day-to-day activities.
  • Contribute to team development of skills and capabilities through mentorship of others, by sharing knowledge and experiences and leveraging best practices.
  • Lead, motivate and develop relationships with internal and external business partners / stakeholders to develop productive working relationships.
  • Contribute to a fair, positive and equitable environment that supports a diverse workforce.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for your business area/function and the bank, both internally and/or externally.
  • Lead and motivate stakeholders, business sponsors, executives and LoB to support organizational goals
  • Foster a positive and cohesive team environment / culture that encourages productivity, innovation, process improvement, teamwork and a high level of professionalism
  • Prioritize and manage own workload in order to deliver quality results and meet timelines
  • Ensure timely communication of issues / points of interest or matters affecting work
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency of the business
  • Establish effective relationships across multiple LoB, partners and Program/Project Managers
  • Provides leadership guidance, makes recommendations and collaborates with business and technology
  • Provides advisory support and guidance, and oversees requirements management
  • Identifies and leads problem resolution for complex requirements related issues
  • Ability to present and make recommendations to senior management and executives
  • Coordinates and prioritizes multiple initiatives
  • Establishes effective relationships with different Stakeholders, Business Sponsors, Executives and LoB
  • Provides support and contributes to the overall business and strategy for respective areas
  • Generally reports to a Senior Manager or above

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 7+ year related experience in risk management
  • Solid understanding of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing obligations
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to remain agile and pivot tasks based on business requirements
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Demonstrated analytical, research and investigative skills
  • Comfortable with a variety of PC-based analytical and reporting software packages, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making recommendations or decisions
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Knowledge of various bank products, services and applications is also considered an asset
