Occupational Therapist Nephrology/Urology (Job ID: 4205)

The Transplant/Nephrology/Urology inpatient unit is looking for an Occupational Therapist (OT) to work in a fast-paced inpatient setting. The unit is a medical surgical unit with a patient population from a variety of specialties including Kidney Transplant, Nephrology, and Urology.

The OT works within a changing environment and as part of an interprofessional team to advocate for and promote wellness while ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and ethical patient care. The OT shares his/her knowledge and expertise with others and contributes to the advancement of practice excellence.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provision of Occupational Therapy to promote, maintain or restore health and wellbeing through engagement in meaningful occupations in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure. Occupational therapy services will include assessment, treatment, consultation, discharge planning and education to patients, family members/caregivers, external agencies and SMH staff.Able to work effectively as a member of an interprofessional team, collaborating with other disciplines to provide comprehensive patient careContributes to the academic mandate of the organization as an educator, resource or support for staff, students and members of the academic and professional communityIdentifies and addresses educational needs for patients and their families.Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development in order to continue to provide optimal patient careIs committed to, and participates in, ongoing quality improvement in the organization.Provides patient care in accordance with all professional and organizational standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a Master's degree (or equivalent) in Occupational TherapyMust be currently licensed by and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) for practice in all applicable clinical areas.Current CPR certificationExcellent communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skillsProven flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environmentExcellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills as relates to patient careDemonstrated commitment to and involvement with own professionDemonstrates an understanding of the Quality Improvement (QI) processes and have experience implementation and evaluating QI initiatives.Must be willing to work evenings and/or weekends as directed by the Program. Must be certified to perform the MoCA (or be willing to certify within first 3 months)

Length of Temporary Contract: 18 months
