Job Title: Radiation Technologist, CT A Radiation Technologist, CT is required to perform special procedure examinations in CT, monitor patient safety, and maintain equipment in a busy hospital setting. Job Description: The Radiation Technologist, CT will be responsible for: • Performing special procedure examinations in CT, including positioning patients, explaining clinical procedures, and operating computerized imaging equipment • Monitoring patient safety during procedures, responding to possible contrast media reactions, and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation as needed • Maintaining equipment, including checking technical results, labeling permanent records, and reporting malfunctioning equipment to the Supervisor • Facilitating workflow, including checking information on requisitions, regulating inpatient examination time, and arranging departmental and/or facility porters • Supervising departmental staff, preparing, planning, and establishing work and priorities to ensure efficient and effective use of department staff • Participating in staffing, hiring, and discipline as appropriate, and making recommendations to the Site Coordinator or Supervisor regarding planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating services provided by the department • Performing quality control duties, including scheduling and performing equipment tests, recording results, and identifying malfunctioning equipment for repair • Participating in the departmental Continuous Quality Improvement program, using established monitoring and auditing methodologies to perform quality assurance checks • Maintaining designated work area, including checking and cleaning equipment, setting up examination trays for specific procedures, and receiving and stocking supplies in designated area • Demonstrating procedures and usage of equipment to staff, including medical residents, technologists, and students, and participating in orientation of new employees • Participating in maintaining patient and hospital records, entering data into the Radiology and Hospital Information System as required • Responding to inquiries from other clinical areas regarding patient examinations and schedules, and referring other concerns to the appropriate supervisor as required • Determining workload measurements and compiling workload statistical reports and other reports, as required, and making recommendations to the Director on how services may be improved • Ensuring that the department meets Health and Safety rules, regulations, and practices, including updating department staff on changes to safety procedures, following up on safety recommendations, and ensuring that staff are adequately trained and authorized to operate machinery and equipment • Participating in approved research and special projects in collaboration with the Supervisor and other health care professionals • Maintaining equipment by monitoring its operation and making arrangements for maintenance and repairs as required • Carrying out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements, and immediately reporting unsafe situations to the Supervisor or other appropriate personnel Qualifications: • Certification with the CAMRT • Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography • One (1) year recent, related experience, including supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience • Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) level About the Company: Fraser Health is a leading healthcare provider in British Columbia, Canada, serving over two million people in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
