Job DescriptionThe Conversational Assistant program at ServiceNow Research, known as CAT, delves into the realm of Conversational AI Assistants to enhance the productivity of knowledge workers across industries. This initiative aims to bring joy to end-users, streamline administrative tasks, and empower developers. The CAT program focuses on transforming LLMs into efficient assistants that aid in achieving objectives effectively. We are actively seeking collaborators and interns for various topics, including:
- Task-oriented dialog and semantic parsing
- Interactive code generation
- Efficient LLMs for computation and memory
- Retrieval-augmented LLMs
- Adaptation of lightweight LLMs for different tasks
- Data synthesis utilizing LLMs
- Advanced transformers with large context and memory
- Controllable AI, chain-of-thought methods, and integration with symbolic AI
- Trustworthy natural language generation to combat inaccuracies
Research scientists play a vital role in leading flagship projects, setting research agendas, supervising interns, and collaborating within the AI community. They are expected to excel in writing, maintaining, and optimizing research software. Additionally, they stay updated on industry trends, share knowledge through internal channels, and engage in collaborative ventures.
Research scientists also provide scientific guidance to other teams, contributing to product enhancement within the company.
QualificationsTo excel in this position, candidates should possess:
- A Ph.D. in machine learning, deep learning, computer science, artificial intelligence, or related fields
- Preferably 2 years of post-Ph.D. research experience
- A proactive mindset with a focus on expanding fundamental knowledge boundaries
- Expertise in large language models and potential experience in various other domains such as multimodal representation learning, reinforcement learning, graphs, and more
- Proficiency in scientific programming with Python and Numpy, and optionally in Java, JavaScript, or R
- Advanced skills in deep learning programming using Pytorch and optionally with Tensorflow
- Track record of contributing to research communities or efforts, including paper publications at major international conferences
- Desire to thrive in a diverse team environment
