Sign Manufacturing Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Sign Maker to join our team at the Ontario Ministry of Transportation's Provincial Sign Shop. In this exciting role, you will be responsible for manufacturing various types of highway signs and symbols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manufacturing silk screen process frames and cutting profilm for silk screen process printing.
  • Setting up silk screen using knowledge of different inks used on various reflective and non-reflective materials.
  • Mixing and applying different paints and primers to metal, plywood, and aluminum blanks.
  • Operating a computerized sign-maker machine.
  • Applying sheeting materials to signs by various methods.
  • Assembling and applying messages to extruded signs.
Requirements:
  • Technical knowledge and skills in Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel, with the ability to complete reports.
  • Knowledge of the Traffic Control Manual for Roadway Work Operations and the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
  • Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Demonstrated coordination and dexterity to perform a variety of sign-manufacturing tasks.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand-powered tools, table saws, and drill presses.
  • Ability to follow and interpret sign layouts, and written and verbal instructions.
  • Oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, with minimum supervision, and complete daily worksheets, often with tight deadlines.
